In August, Changsha was alive with industrial innovation. From August 13 to 15, the 33rd China (International) Measurement and Control Exhibition (MICONEX2025, formerly “Multi-National Instrumentation Exhibition”) was held at the Changsha International Convention and Exhibition Center. As an annual instrumentation event, it focused on “intelligent upgrading and green transformation” and drew hundreds of global enterprises. Among them, Endress+Hauser—a global process automation leader—stood out. Its 100-square-meter booth at A1061 in Hall E1 showcased innovations in energy metering, fermentation monitoring, and gas analysis. It quickly became a hot spot, attracting crowds of industry insiders for discussions.
01 Sustainability as Core: Leading Green Change in Instrumentation
Global industry is now shifting fast toward low-carbon and intelligent operations. Instrumentation acts as the “core sensing unit” of industrial production. Its innovation and application directly affect how smoothly the industry transforms. Two trends stand out today. First, enterprises want both efficiency and environmental benefits. This is pushing instrumentation to become “higher precision, lower energy use, and more intelligent.” Traditional manual monitoring is fading. Real-time data collection and remote maintenance are now must-haves. Second, the Paris Agreement and China’s “dual carbon” goals have made “low carbon” a core focus. Enterprises need instruments not just for metering, but also to help cut energy use and emissions. Meanwhile, the industry faces challenges like rising demand for customization and higher maintenance costs—calling for more efficient solutions.
Against this backdrop, Endress+Hauser has made “sustainable development” part of every step—from product R&D to daily operations. Every product and solution aims to “help customers boost efficiency, cut energy use, and reduce emissions.” For example, its smart meters in energy metering track consumption to optimize energy use. Its automation systems in process control adjust parameters to cut waste and pollution. This “balanced focus on commercial and environmental value” has built the company a strong green brand image.
At the exhibition, Endress+Hauser’s “Green Concept Zone” was a major draw. A well-arranged living plant wall stood next to displays of the company’s sustainability cases. Together, they conveyed the idea of “industry and ecology coexisting.” A looped video showed more: solar power at its German factory, rainwater recycling at Chinese bases, and global supply chain environmental standards. Many visitors said this made “sustainability” feel real—not just a concept.
“As a globally influential company, we believe sustainability is the foundation of long-term success,” said Wang Yiwei, Endress+Hauser’s Marketing Director, in an on-site interview. Since 2014, the company has released annual sustainability reports. These cover ecological protection, labor rights, and business ethics. Third parties review them to ensure authenticity. What’s more, Endress+Hauser has ranked in the top 5% of EcoVadis’ “Gold Suppliers” for years. EcoVadis evaluates companies on four key areas, and Endress+Hauser’s strong performance has made it a sustainability benchmark.
To strengthen its environmental tech, Endress+Hauser has also partnered deeply with SICK. The two sides are combining resources in gas measurement, sensor tech, and data analysis. Their goal is to develop integrated monitoring solutions for chemicals, energy, and environmental protection. “This partnership isn’t just about tech,” Wang said. “It’s about turning Endress+Hauser from a ‘single instrument supplier’ into a ‘low-carbon transformation partner’—offering full-process help from data monitoring to emission reduction.”
02 Scenario-Based Products: Solving Full-Process Industrial Pain Points
Beyond sharing its green vision, Endress+Hauser used “scenario-based displays + tech explanations” to show how its products solve real problems. During the exhibition, it co-hosted an “industrial intelligent solutions live stream” . Technical experts broke down product principles and case studies for different industries. Over 25,000 industry professionals watched, and the comment section was full of questions. At the booth, six scenario-based systems were visitor favorites:
One-Story Integrated Scenario System for Full Product Portfolio
This system shows Endress+Hauser’s “full-process sensing + digital management” capabilities. It combines level, flow, pressure, temperature, liquid analysis, and digital products. Unlike traditional displays, it adds “real-time data interaction.” Visitors can use explosion-proof tablets to check instrument data and status. They can also generate custom reports (like energy analysis or fault alerts) via the cloud. For example, in a simulated chemical scenario, visitors can see how flow meters control material speed, how pressure transmitters track fluctuations, and how the digital platform offers optimization tips. This helps them understand how Endress+Hauser’s products make production “visible, controllable, and optimizable.”
LNG Processing Scenario Simulation System
LNG operations demand stable, high-precision instruments—thanks to “low temperature, high pressure, and high risk.” Endress+Hauser’s solution includes mass flowmeters, vortex flowmeters, and gas ultrasonic flowmeters. These use low-temperature-resistant materials and special sealing to work stably at -196℃, with accuracy up to ±0.1%. The system also integrates Netilion and Heartbeat tech. Netilion lets enterprises track real-time LNG data and send alerts. Heartbeat checks instrument accuracy automatically—cutting maintenance downtime by over 90% yearly. Staff noted this solution is used in domestic LNG terminals and ships, keeping metering errors low and reducing costs.
Fermentation Monitoring Scenario Simulation System
Food and biopharmaceutical industries need strict hygiene—even small contamination can ruin products. This system, modeled after beer fermentation, shows how Endress+Hauser meets these needs. It includes electromagnetic flowmeters, mass flowmeters, radar level gauges, and a beer fermentation monitor. All equipment meets hygiene standards (Ra ≤ 0.8μm surface roughness) and can be quickly disassembled for cleaning. The beer fermentation monitor is key: it uses non-invasive tech to track sugar, alcohol, and yeast activity—no sampling needed. This ensures data accuracy and avoids contamination. It’s now used in beer, dairy, and vaccine production to boost quality and reduce risks.
Tank Farm Metering System
Tank farms are critical for chemical and petrochemical safety. Excess levels or abnormal pressure can cause leaks or explosions. Endress+Hauser’s system uses “hardware + software” for double protection. Hardware (high-precision level meters, thermometers, pressure transmitters) collects data with ±0.05% accuracy. Software (tank farm management tools) stores data, analyzes trends, and sends alerts. If levels or pressure are off, the system triggers alarms and sends phone alerts in under 10 seconds. It also generates inventory and metering reports to digitize management. Reports show this system has cut safety accidents by over 50% at large domestic petrochemical firms.
Quantitative Loading/Unloading Vehicle System
For chemical and petrochemical loading/unloading, “accuracy” and “safety” are key. Endress+Hauser’s system solves both. It includes batch controllers, mass flowmeters, and control valves. Drivers use an IC card for ID verification. The system then pulls order info and sets loading/unloading volumes. During operations, mass flowmeters track data, and batch controllers adjust valves to keep errors ≤0.1%. Afterward, reports are generated and uploaded to ERP systems—closing the loop on “order → loading/unloading → metering → tracking.” Many chemical enterprise reps said this system cuts errors, boosts efficiency, and reduces risks.
Digital Platform Solution
To support digital transformation, Endress+Hauser’s platform covers “production operations + energy management.” It has six modules: loading business management (order scheduling), loading monitoring (remote oversight), metering management (traceable reports), smart warehouse operations (digital twin modeling), and energy management (consumption analysis). The platform supports remote deployment and integrates with existing ERP/MES systems—no major upgrades needed. It’s now used in chemical parks and large manufacturers, boosting efficiency by over 30% and cutting energy use by ~15%.
